Kerry Ladies club notes

July 06, 2015

After the excitement of last week's Munster Final in Killarney, Kerry Ladies face into their own Munster Final on Saturday at 6pm in Mallow against similar opposition. Unfortunately this year, Kerry & Cork are the only senior graded teams so both teams are into a straight Munster final. A lack of competitive games for both sides will hopefully not be a factor for either party in what should be a great game of football. The sides met last in the Tesco HomeGrown National League semi final which Cork won, having pulled away in the last 15 minutes of the game. Until that stage the game was very much in the melting pot. Kerry rued some missed opportunities that day & will be hoping to convert more of the chances created. Kerry can report a relatively clean bill of health after the latest round of club championship action, something which obviously was important to manager Alan O'Neill & his management team as they face into their first Munster & All Ireland campaign. Selecting the team will pose a few good headaches, as the players introduced to the panel during the league have bedded in well & have added an extra dimension to an already experienced & strong panel. Kerry Cork Munster Finals are always very close in both grades, so expect this clash to be no different.
Kerry Ladies are delighted to announce that the U12 Development Squad programme will commence on Sat 11th July across 3 centres in Kerry - North Kerry/Tralee, East Kerry/Killarney & South/Mid/West Kerry. We have approx 30 experienced coaches lined up with a training programme to be implemented. The programme will run for 8 weeks & is for players born in 2003. Details & forms are on the website.
The Glebe Kitchens U12 County League is now hitting the final furlong with finals & semi finals in most divisions. In Div 1 North Kerry Black & Amber rivals Listowel Emmets host Austin Stacks in one semi final, while in the other semi final Southern Gaels host Cromane. In Div 2 Abbeydorney host Spa Killarney, while Legion are home to Ballymacelligott. In Div 3 Finuge St Senans will face Castleisland Desmonds in the final, date TBC. While in Div 4 Dr Crokes face Beaufort.
The Educate.ie U14 Co.League is also nearing concluding stages. In Div 1 Cromane are awaiting the winners of Rathmore & Miltown/Listry in the final. While in Div 2 Southern Gaels will face neighbours Inbhear Sceine Gaels in the final date TBC. While in Div 3 we just reached semi final stages with Currow, Ballymacelligott, Finuge St Senans & Spa contesting.

Congratulations to all the young footballers who togged out in the Shannon Airport Primary Game during the Munster Final on Sunday & also to their coaches, Mary Jo Curran & Joanne Brosnan.
Well done to Killorglin Community Games U14 ladies footballers who won the Munster Community Games title on Saturday in Limerick. They now advance to the All Ireland final in Athlone in a few weeks.
