Joe Brolly is calling for a 'proper' second tier football championship and for it to be named after the late Paidi O Se.

Dublin's 19-point demolition of Kildare in today's Leinster SFC semi-final has reaffirmed Brolly's belief that a new 'B' championship is desperately needed, and reckons that if the Kerry legend's name was on the cup, it would make it all the more credible and something counties would aspire to winning.

"We're the only sporting organisation in the world that deosn't have a virbant second tier championship," the Derry man lamented on RTE.

"We need to give it proper respect, we need to play the final before the All-Ireland final. I think we should call it the Paidi O Se Cup because you need a figure like that, an inspirational figure on the cup. I think it would be a brilliant thing."

Brolly added: "What happened the last time was the second tier championship was tucked away, the players were treated with no respect. It wasn't a proper championship, it wasn't set up properly. It was treated the like the mini-sevens.

"We urgently need a proper second tier championship and I'll tell you the Gaels of Ireland will respond to that if we got it."
