Kerry fans will be delighted to hear that Colm Cooper showed no ill effects after playing an internal game.

The Gooch has been out of action since suffering a torn cruciate ligament and fractured knee cap last February.

But Kingdom chairman Patrick O'Sullivan confirmed to The Irish Daily Star that he came through a full training game on Tuesday evening unscathed.

"He played in an internal match with Kerry," O'Sullivan said. "Colm is on the way back, he'll be a couple of more weeks.

"An A v B match doesn't mean he's ready to play inter-county football. There's club football at the weekend so we'll see if he plays with them, and we'll see what happens."
