Kerry Ladies updates

August 11, 2014
It was a busy weekend on the underage domestic front with a number of finals played. The first was the U13 A Championship final between Corca Dhuibhne & Rathmore on Monday. In what was repeat of the 2013 U12 Div 1 title which ended in a single point victory for Rathmore AET, a cracking game was in store. Corca Dhuibhne's Niamh Ni Conchuir was key player for them, in the opening minutes she forced the Rathmore keeper Mary Collins into a point blank save. Corca Dhuibhne through Ceiti Long scored the opening half's only goal in a move started by wing back Sibha Hannafin. Corca Dhuibhne had a lot of possession but unfortunately had many wides. Half time Corca Dhuibhne 1-05 Rathmore 0-03. Rathmore got themselves into the game in the opening minutes with a goal from Chloe Fitzgerald. But Corca Dhuibhne sprung into action & added 3 goals with Ally Ni Mhathuna & Ceiti Long getting 2 to effectively seal the victory. Final Score: Corca Dhuibhne 4-09 Rathmore 1-03. Captain Ally Ni Mhathuna accepted the title from Co. Secretary Mary Courtney.
On Wednesday Beaufort playing in their first underage final in many years after only reforming 2 years met a very strong Spa outfit. Unfortunately on the night, luck was not with the Mid Kerry side, as Spa ran out comprehensive winners. Spa Captain Elizabeth Stack was delighted to accept the title from Co. Treasurer Karen McGlynn.
On Saturday Castleisland Desmonds faced Laune Rangers in the U13 B Championship in Fossa. Both teams had good wins coming into final so a close encounter was expected. But the Desmonds side possessed too much firepower for the Laune side & as the old adage goes, goals win games. Castleisland Desmonds hit 4 goals through Emma O'Regan (2) & Kayla O'Connor & Roisin Brosnan, while Laune Rangers were only able to get 2 goals of their own. Final score Castleisland Desmonds 4-12 Laune Rangers 2-08. Castleisland Captain Kayla O'Connor was delighted to accept the title from Co. Secretary Mary Courtney much to the joy of the large fans that attended the game.

The U12 Development Squad programme comes to conclusion with a festival of football so to speak. Special guests will be attending, while food & activities will also be organised. Venue TBC.
