Geaney: a great day for Dingle and Kerry

Paul Geaney was a proud Dingle and Kerry man yesterday.

The full forward marked his first Munster SFC final appearance with three points as the Kingdom cruised to a 0-24 to 0-12 victory over Cork. Earlier, five of Geaney's club-mates had contributed to Kerry's Munster MFC win over the Rebels, making it a day to remember for Dingle and West Kerry in general.

"It was great to see a Kerry double," Geaney enthused.

"There were five Dingle minors involved in the first game and it does give you a kick when you hear they win. There is another Dingle player injured on that minor panel so that is six overall and three from the Gaeltacht. It is great to see them win, a great day at the office for Kerry football."

Geaney wasn't entirely happy with his performance, insisting that he could have scored more.

"The early points settled me somewhat," he continued.

"When I got the opportunity to kick the scores I went for them. They came off and training for the last four or five months has been built towards today. Training isn't done for nothing. It is done for today.

"I am not too happy that I didn't kick more. We will have to look at it, there were mistakes here and there.

"We've another day out. We are in Croke Park and that is where we want to be. We have a new team and we are looking forward to the next game."
