Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne have lifted the Hogan Cup after staging a terrific second half comeback to shatter St. Pat's, Maghera's two-in-a-row hopes at Croke Park.

The Derry boys looked to be on course to become the first school to win back-to-back Hogan Cups for a second time when they led by 1-4 to 0-2 at half-time, but were outscored by 1-6 to 0-2 in the second period by the Munster kingpins, who are managed by Kerry supremo Eamonn Fitzmaurice.

The holders got off to a flying start when midfielder Conor Glass scored a superb goal in the 12th minute and Danny Tallon quickly followed up with a point to give them a 1-1 to 0-0 lead.

A wasteful Pobalscoil side had to wait until the 20th minute for their opening score from Séamus Ó Muircheartaigh. Tallan, Glass and Conor Convery extended St. Pat's advantage before Tomás Ó Sé left five in it at the break.

The winners got the start they needed to the second half when Ó Muircheartaigh's second point was followed by a Roibeárd Ó Sé goal into the Hill 16 end. Goalkeeper Dáithí Ó Conchúir kept the West Kerry side in the game with a wonderful double save to deny both Convery and Cathal Mulholland as Maghera sought an instant response.

The momentum remained with the Corn Ui Mhuiri champions who took the lead for the first time, 1-6 to 1-5, through Ó Muircheartaigh's third point in the 44th minute.

Conor Cassidy restored parity with six minutes remaining, but the Dingle outfit weren't to be denied as late points from Tom and Barra Ó Súilleabháin secured an historic win.
