Kerry captain John Egan has hailed what he believes is the biggest win in the history of Kerry hurling.

Last Sunday, the Kingdom surprised many by defeating Carlow in the Division 2A hurling league final and now they face Offaly this weekend in the Division 1B/2A relegation/promotion play-off.

Kerry were 2013 Christy Ring Cup finalists, but Egan told the Kerryman that he felt that the win over an established side like Carlow was a bigger result for them.

"I think it has to be bigger to be fair," said Egan. "Carlow are a Liam McCarthy for the last couple of years, and I'm sure they would have thought at the start of the year this league was only a formality to get back to 1B.

"I think it has to be bigger, the teams we've beaten and the consistency over the six games and the scores and the high level of scoring that we have had, have to be very pleasing."

Kerry travel back to Semple Stadium this Saturday evening for the promotion/relegation play-off. Throw in for this one is at 6.30pm.
