O'Sullivan, Michael

March 08, 2012
It was with great sadness that Michael O'Sullivan, Keel, Glencar, passed away peacefully after a long illness on February 10th in the intensive care unit at Kerry General Hospital.

Michael was born on June 15th, 1948 to Jeremiah and Debbie O'Sullivan, Keel, Glencar. He took over the family farm from his father where he enjoyed many years of farming.
Michael was very much involvd in the Glencar community: he was a member of the Glencar Cattle Show Committee and a founder member of the Glencar Community Centre.

Michael worked in Pretty Polly for seven years where he had many a story to tell from his time there. He then worked in Coillte Teoranta for eighteen years, planting and felling trees and later in his career with them as a tree surgeon which took him all over Munster.
After Coillte, he worked in the Glencar Community Centre as an employee of FAS for three years. On finishing there, he worked in the buildings with Evan's and Kelliher Construction.

Michael had a keen interest in all types of sports especially GAA at club level and county. He managed the Glencar B team for a few years which he enjoyed immensely. There isn't many a Kerry match that he didn't attend and in the last few years was accompanied by his grand-daughter Sinead, who he passed his interest on to.
Michael's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Aghadoe ward and the intersive care unit at KGH for their kindness and care.

Michael died surrounded by his family, his wife Breda, his daughters Deirdre, Nuala and Eilish, his son Gearoid, sister Mary, brother-in-law Timmy, sons-in-law Patrick and Adrian, he is also survived by his granddaughters Sinead and Nuala by his nephews Terence, Brian and Tim and sister-in-law Helen and many friends in mid Kerry.
