Michael Healy was born in Killahan, Abbeydorney on the 29th September 1925. He attended Killahan National School. He moved to England in the late 40s and worked in London for many years.

He later worked in the car industry in Birmingham. While there he became a founder-member fo the Sean McDermott GAA club. He played football and hurling for several clubs in Birmingham including the Kingdom.
While there he met and married his wife Noreen. They had one son James. During these years he continued to visit his mother in Killahan and he was a caring and wonderful son to her. He had one sister who became a nun and worked in various schools in England.

Michael and family returned to Ireland in the early 70s. He worked in Listowel for many years in Burlington in Tralee and during those years he took a great interest in the local hurling club of his youth and he had a great interest and extensive knowledge of Kerry football. He had a great interest in flowers and gardening.

Michael was a man of a warm and retiring personality who was greatly respected by his family, friends and neighbours. This was demonstrated by the attendance of so many of them at the removal of the remains to the church and to his funeral.
During the latter years of his life he suffered many medical problems but was a wonderful patient. He was never heard to moan or groan about his problems. He died as he lived, very quietly in Kerry General Hospital on the 27th May. He will be sadly missed by his wife, son, sister, neighbours and many friends. He now rests in peace in the Kyrie Elison Abbey Cemetery in Abbeydorney.
