Donoghue eager to impress

Kerry's James O'Donoghue, who scored the crucial goal in the 2010 McGrath Cup final, gets away from Peter Crowley of UCC
Kerry forward James O'Donoghue wants to build on last year's appearances in the side.

O'Donoghue was the point winning hero against Cork in last year's Munster semi final when he came off the bench to swing over an injury time point.

However, he failed to cement his place in the side, but he is looking to make more of an impact this year starting with Saturday night's league opener against Dublin.

"Last year I wasn't really expecting anything in terms of Kerry because I was just after coming back from a shoulder operation," O'Donoghue explained to the Kerryman.

"It was nice to get any sort of a run, and it was great to get the foot in the door and get involved in the whole set-up. It would be nice to get more time on the field this year and that's what I will be trying my hardest to do but I know what's ahead of me, looking at the quality of the players that are inside there."
