January 26, 2012
The semi-final line-up for this year's Corn Ui Mhuiri (Munster Colleges SFC) has been confirmed after yesterday'a quarter-final action.
Holders Colaiste Chriost Ri will face Macroom's De La Salle in one semi-final, while Tralee CBS will face Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne in the other. Both semi-finals will take place on February 11/12 at venues to be confirmed.
In Killarney yesterday, Tralee CBS held off a second half comeback by Rochestown to prevail on a 0-11 to 0-9 scoreline. Niall Sheehy top-scored with 0-5 for the Kerry side, who are chasing their 16th title.
Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne ensured an all-Kerry semi-final when they put a poor start behind them to beat St. Flannan's by 0-10 to 1-3. The Ennis side led by 0-3 to 0-0 after 20 minutes, but inspired by Dara O Se, the west Kerry side turned the game around to go into the break leading 0-5 to 0-3, and restricted their opponents to a single score in the second period.
De La Salle qualified for their first ever semi-final thanks to a 1-12 to 1-2 victory over St Fachtna's, Skibbereen. The Macroom side were never troubled after they scored 1-3 in the opening five minutes, with the goal coming from other David Horgan.
In the other quarter-final at Knocknagree, two goals from Barry Madden helped Colaiste Chriost Ri to a 3-6 to 1-8 victory over St. Brendan's of Killarney.
