Brendan Somers, late of Drumclough, Listowel, who sadly passed away on Tuesday, August 23rd will be sadly missed by his loving family: His wife Kate, five children Delia, Mary Joe, Jack, Laura and Benny, seven grandchildren, Sean, Eoin, Eimear, Kevin, Katie, Rachel and Lorcan and in-laws Mark, Liam and Trish.

Brendan was the youngest of fourteen children and attended Dromclough national school and Listowel Technical School. He and Kate were married for forty-two years.
Brendan was a keen supporter of Kerry GAA having been a member of the Kerry Supporters Club for a number of years. He travelled with them to the Polo Grounds, New York in 1997 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Kerry/Cavan All-Ireland final in 1947. He attended thirty-five consecutive All Ireland finals with his friend Johnny Pa Brosnan (RIP), irrespective of who the finalists were. He spent many weekends following the hounds around north Kerry and Bryan MacMahon (RIP) wrote a poem called the 'Hounds of Glenoe'.

He was also a passionate gardener and a lover of animals having farmed all his life.
His real passion was travelling and his trips included Australia, America and numerous visits to Europe over the course of his life. In 2004 he also visited Tunisia in North Africa to see his brother Jack Jo's grave. He was buried out there after he died during World War II.

Removal took place from Lyons' Funeral Home, Derry, Listowel to Irremore Church. Following Requiem Mass, Brendan was laid in his final resting place in Kilshinane Cemetery, Tralee Road, Listowel.
