The Late Michael O'Shea

A veil of sadness descended on the community of Camp on Wednesday night last at the news of the death of Michael O'Shea, Upper Camp. Michael was a man of great character and integrity, devoted to his wife Eileen (nee Barry) and to all his family. He was a dedicated GAA man who never missed a Kerry All-Ireland final down through the years and he shared his football enthusiasm with his wife Eileen, both of them enjoying

travelling to games all over the county and beyond. Michael played with our local parish club, Annascaul in his young days and proudly handed down this wonderful tradition to his 3 sons who in turn have all contributed greatly to football in West Kerry and in far off lands in San Francisco where Kevin has carried the flag for Kerry football on the field and in management with Shannon Rangers.

Michael enjoyed a game of golf with Castlegregory Golf Club. He loved the land and was very happy and content looking after his animals and working on the farm. The large attendance at Michaels removal from The Gleasure Funeral Home to St Marys Church Camp on Friday evening was hugely representative of the esteem in which Michael was held in the community. On arrival at Camp, a guard of honour representative of Annascaul GAA, Castlegregory Golf Club and Camp Community Council accompanied the cortege to St. Marys Church Camp. Michael is survived by his wife Eileen daughter Mariead, sons Kevin, Cathal and Geaorid, sisters Sr. Michael, Kathleen Daly and Peggy Fitzgerald, daughter-in-law Kathleen, son-in-law David, grandchildren Orlaith, Keelyn and Danny many relatives and many friends to whom sympathy is extended.
