The Late Tim Allman

The death took place of Timothy Allman of Fiddane, Gortatlea, Ballymacelligott on Saturday February 27.
Tim or TD as he was better known passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at the Bob Secours Hospital, Tralee surrounded by his family.
TD was born on June 27, 1934 to Jerry and Babs Allman both schoolteachers at Killury National School in the North Kerry village of Causeway. He attended Killury NS and received his secondary education in Rockwell College, Co. Tipperary.
TD went on to study law in Dublin but his studies were cut short when he contracted TB, which was rife in the country at that time. He spent almost two years convalescing in hospitals in Limerick and Edenburn, Ballymaceelligott.
He worked in solicitor offices for many years in Thurles, Dingle and Castleisland before going into auctioneering business with Norths in Tralee in the late 1970's. In the early 90s he opened his own auctioneering business in Denny Street, Tralee and later worked from home until his retirement in 2005.
TD moved to Ballymacelligott when he met and married Marie Reidy, a local schoolteacher in 1966 and they were proud parents of their five children. He settled in quickly and became a popular figure in the local community and made many close friends down the years.
He had a great interest in all sports especially rugby and it was within minutes of Ireland beating England at Twickenham that he passed away. He also was a dedicated seller of tickets for Ballymacelligott GAA who honoured him with a large guard of honour on both days of his funeral.
TD will be missed, not only by his family but also his many friends who loved to listen to his dry humour and witty comments. He was pre-deceased by his wife Marie and his brothers Michael, Dermot and Dan.
He is survived by his sons Diarmuid, Eamon and David, daughters Sharon and Joanne, brother Denis, sister Kathleen, Son-in-law Tom, daughters-in-law Carmel and Breda and grand-daughters Helen, Rachel and Mairead.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam.
