Austin Stacks manager Wayne Quillinan cut a despondent figure in the aftermath of their defeat to Nemo Rangers in the Munster club SFC semi-final.

The Cork champions hammered the Kerry representatives by 2-17 to 0-05 in what could only be described as a one-sided game.

Austin Stacks had won the Kerry club championship and were put forward to represent the county after an amalgamation, East Kerry won the county title.

Quillinan was confident though that his charges would produce a performance that could trouble Nemo, and he was left shocked when that didn’t happen.

“To be honest, we more than hoped, we actually believed we were going to win it. That’s being straight up,” Quillinan told the Kerryman.

“People will think I’m off my rocker for saying that but with sport you have to believe in what you are doing and what you are about, but on Sunday as a collective, we didn’t show up in any aspect of the game.”
