Following criticism of how some Kerry senior footballers are told that they are being dropped from the panel, the county board are to put in place procedures where there is a better line of communication between the players and management.

This month’s Kerry County Board meeting saw the matter of how players were told that they were on or off the panel was discussed with many delegates stating that it was unfair for players to learn that they had been axed from the panel through social media, which has been the case on occasion.

The Kerryman reports that County chairman Tim Murphy agreed with the delegates and stated that a procedure would be put in place for future communication between the management and the players.

Meanwhile, new Kerry manager Peter Keane will begin his role in earnest next week when the squad returns for training.

Keane will be working with a lot of new faces following the decision of a number of players to retire, while the likes of Fionn Fitzgerald, Daithi Casey, Barry John Keane and Ronan Shanahan have been dropped from the squad.
