Ian Brick has stepped down as manager of the Kerry U21 hurlers.

The Kilmoyley clubman leaves the Kingdom in a good place having guided them to back-to-back All-Ireland 'B' titles, with their most recent Richie McElligott Cup success coming last weekend following a final victory over Derry at Nowlan Park.

Brick has also left his role as selector to the county senior squad after a six-year involvement.

In a statement released on the Kerry GAA website this evening, the departing Brick thanked his family, backroom personnel and the county board:

"I have informed the Kerry County Board of my decision to step down as Manager of the Kerry Under 21 hurlers and as Selector with the Senior hurlers.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my six-year involvement and our success over that time was hugely rewarding. But the real enjoyment for me came from being in the privileged position of managing and working with some of Ireland's most talented hurlers from Kerry at Minor, Under 21 and Senior levels.

"I'd like to thank my family for their wonderful support throughout that time and to the dedicated backroom personnel I worked with since 2013, especially hurling officers Ger McCarthy and Paudie Dineen, and Managers Pat Ryan and Fintan O'Connor.

"I'd like to thank the Kerry County Board for providing me with the opportunity to fulfill my passion for Kerry hurling and I wish all involved good health and success in the future.
