O'Connor: teams will beat each other

Kerry senior hurling manager Fintan O'Connor

Kerry manager Fintan O'Connor was disappointed by last weekend's defeat to Carlow, but feels every side in the Joe McDonagh Cup will take points off the other.

O'Connor is not buying into many people's thoughts that the loser of Sunday's clash between Kerry and Laois will be out of contention as they both lost their opening games.

Instead, the Kerry manager is confident that teams will take points off each other given the competitive nature of the group.

"I think that teams will take points off each other, you look at Westmeath beating Laois in Portlaoise, I don't expect any team to come out with five wins out of five," O'Connor told the Kerryman.

"Antrim were very impressive as were Westmeath, but all these teams are close to each other, and they'll all be competitive games. We'll be all out to try and win next week, but if we don't, then we'll just have to try and win the game after that and so on."
