"One of our players got sent off and I merely said to the linesman that he was being mauled and dragged, which he was, and then he said, 'I'll put you out of the field and I said, ' You won't put me out of the field'. Then he put up his flag and somebody else may have roared something. That's as much as I said. That's the way it went."

Brian Cody gave his version of events after he was banished to the stand in Nowlan Park on Saturday.

"If we start that way against Waterford (next week in the Allianz League), we'll be out the door and gone - we'll be hammered. We can't afford to start that lackadaisical; we did it against Dublin last week."

"Job done, we're delighted to get out of here. The conditions again today, the pitch was in excellent shape but it was slippery on top. I think there were a lot of cobwebs out there from not having played since the Connacht final six weeks ago. Hopefully the game will bring us on a bit but we've a lot of work to do."

It was mission accomplished in London as far as Corofin boss Kevin O'Brien was concerned.

"The call could have been made a bit sooner, maybe last night (Saturday). People were posting images of the condition of the pitch on social media, and I don't think the water was going to subside within that time-frame."

Moy's All-Ireland Club semi-final against An Ghaeltacht fell victim to the weather and the Tyrone club's joint-manager Gavin McGilly was critical of the powers-that-be.

"I wish John (Sugrue) the best of luck and it is not because he or his management team is in place that I have decided to retire. He did text me last year and I told him I was caught up with work and I just hadn't the time. But look I'm 32 now and I'll be 33 in the summer. So the time is up, I've run out of road."
