Next weekend's O'Byrne Cup final between Meath and Westmeath will go ahead in Portlaoise.

Supporters in both counties are unhappy with the choice of venue for the derby meeting, with Meath legend Bernard Flynn one of the first to voice his outrage, but Leinster Council has confirmed that the game will proceed at O'Moore Park at 4pm on Sunday as part of a double-header with the All-Ireland Club IFC semi-final between An Ghaeltacht of Kerry and Moy of Tyrone, with both matches due to be broadcast live by TG4.

The provincial body's commercial and marketing manager Cian Murphy pointed out in the Irish Independent that the Irish language channel "have first call on January competitions. They submitted a request asking to cover it if it was fixed for Portlaoise as they would already have cameras there for the An Ghaeltacht/Moy match".
