There was an overwhelming reaction on social media to last night's airing of 'Micko', which chronicles the remarkable playing and managerial career of Kerry legend Mick O'Dwyer.

GAA fans across the country tuned into RTÉ One to watch the excellent Loosehorse Television documentary about the 82-year-old Kerry great and the tributes were flowing in on Twitter:

I love Kerry football because of the likes of Micko. Epitomises everything I love about it. He breathes it. I'd listen to him all day. Would have loved to have played under under him. And one of the finest rogues we ever produced!!! #thegreatest

The #MICKO doc airs on @RTEOne after the 9 News. It's a great watch. Narrated entirely by the man himself, it's a lesson in GAA, Irish history, O'Dwyer himself, and his love of life and the game that made him. RTE ONE 9.35pm

He brought Kerry to the very top, brought Kildare from nowhere up to beat Kerry and brought Laois up from nowhere to beat Kildare. Finished up with a local u14 team, which won the league. He must of being some sort of genius. And about time RTE made something like that! #Micko
