The Clare hurlers have taken up the offer of participating in a tournament in Boston.

County Board chairman Joe Cooney told delegates at this week's county board meeting that the squad will be travelling to Boston in November for the Fenway Tournament.

A 30-strong panel including players, management and county board officials will head stateside for the four-team tournament that will be played under an eleven-a-side format.

Dublin will again take on Galway in a repeat of the 2015 edition of the event, while the other game on Sunday November 19th will be a meeting between 2016 All-Ireland champions Tipperary and Clare, who won the league title last year.

A crowd of almost 28,000 attended the inaugural staging of the event in November 2015, when Galway claimed a 50-47 victory over Dublin.

Points are only awarded if the sliotar is struck to the net, with a goal from inside a designated scoring zone worth three points and five for one hit from outside.
