Kerry manager Fintan O'Connor feels that they are in a prime position to avoid relegation from NHL 1B.

Despite suffering a heavy defeat to Limerick last weekend, Kerry's win over Laois in the opening round means that their fate is still in their own hands.

The Kingdom have yet to face Galway and Wexford, but O'Connor admitted to the Kerryman that they are targeting the Offaly game in order to ensure their survival.

"It suits us in a way," said O'Connor. "But Offaly will come down and they were very competitive in their last game having had two men sent off, but maybe they'll feel they could have beaten Laois," said O'Connor.

"We're under no illusions that we'll have to be better that we were (against Limerick) and the next day and try keep improving a little bit, we were very disappointed after last Sunday, but we will pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and go at it again."
