Dual star Con O'Callaghan was the name on everyone's lips after Cuala's historic Leinster club SHC triumph, but manager Mattie Kenny stressed it was a team performance.

The young Dublin football panellist followed up his scoring heroics against Borris/Kilcotton and St Mullins with another haul of 1-4 against O'Loughlin Gaels with Kenny acknowledging: "He's a talented guy. Con is an equally good footballer as he is a hurler. He's a very good hurler.

"His angles of running are very good. I said after the game against Kilcotton the deliveries to him are exceptional. We are working a lot on that. It's the quality of the ball and the quality of that speed and service to him is good.

"I don't want to be concentrating too much on Con, but the young fella has a great future ahead of him sporting-wise. But, look, that was an overall team performance so I'd prefer to concentrate on the team and the work ethic of the team, and how individually all the guys played so well.

"It was a really good team performance, especially by our guys up front."

The former Galway coach praised his players for going for the jugular when the opportunity arises.

"I encourage the lads that when they get the chance, to go in and get the big score. When I came to Cuala, they were happy to take the scores from the outside. Sometimes you can keep tipping the points over all day and next thing you conceded a goal and that gives the momentum to the opposition," he added.
