Shanahan glad to see the light

Lismore brothers Maurice and Dan Shanahan celebrate with the Waterford IHC silverware.

Lismore and Waterford star Maurice Shanahan believes his club have been lifted out of the doldrums following their Munster club IHC success.

Shanahan admitted to the Waterford News & Star that the club was at a low ebb following their relegation from the senior ranks last year.

However, a swift return to Waterford's top flight was followed by a provincial title success, much to the delight of all involved in the club.

"This time last year we were in a dark place with our club being relegated from senior hurling," stated Shanahan.

"It wasn't a nice place to be because we are a big hurling club in Waterford. The goal at the start of the year was to get out of Waterford but we had this at the back of our heads too. To get there and win it is absolutely brilliant for our club."
