Ballygunner and Waterford star Pauric Mahony is determined to play his part in his club's run to the county final.

Mahony missed the early rounds of the Waterford SHC as he continued his return from a broken leg he suffered last year.

The 24-year-old returned for the knockout stages and has amassed 0-16 in the wins over Abbeyside and Mount Sion.

However, an ankle injury has been hampering him, but he won't let that get in the way of taking his place in Sunday's county SHC final against Passage.

"It's not too bad. I'll need a bit of ice on it and stuff like that. We'll try and recharge the batteries and be as fresh as possible for next Sunday," said Mahony.

The sides met in the 2013 final and on that occasion Passage made a storming finish to claim their first ever county SHC title.
