Na Piarsaigh's reign as Limerick, Munster and All-Ireland Club hurling champions is over.

Ballybrown's 1-15 to 0-9 victory over Doon this evening sent Shane O'Neill's charges packing from the Limerick SHC with one round of group games still to play.

The Caherdavin side, who defeated Cushendall by 2-25 to 2-14 on St Patrick's Day, suffered opening round defeats to Kilmallock and Doon.

Subsequent wins over Bruree and South Liberties threw them a lifeline but their slow start has come back to haunt them and five of the six knock-out places are now confirmed.

As things stand, Ballybrown, Doon, Kilmallock, Adare and Patrickswell have all made it through to the business end of the competition.

There is still one quarter-final spot up for grabs and that will go to Ahane if they can get the better of Knockainey in their final game.
