TJ Reid reckons Richie Hogan is 50-50 to be fit for the 2016 Leinster SHC final.

The Danesfort clubman missed the semi-final victory over Dublin with a broken hand and faces a race against time to feature in the provincial decider against Galway on Sunday week.

"Richie's training away, doing all the runs, doing all the physical work but he hasn't hurled though he's pucked around, alright. It's still early days though, there's another week and a half," Reid told The Irish Independent.

"The six forwards hurled very well the last day so he'll have to fight for his place again but that's just the nature of Kilkenny. Just because we won so much, you can't be just brought back into the team.

"He'll have to be 100% right before he's playing, anyway, but he'll be a major boost to the team. He's back training and might be back. It's still 50-50. He did break a bone in the hand that he holds the hurl with so there could be a lot of strength missing in the wrist as well.

"If he's right, it would be great to have him. If not, we'll just have to soldier on without him."
