The last round of group games in the Galway SHC have been deferred to allow the county senior hurlers prepare for their Leinster SHC campaign.

The last round of games in the SHC were due to be played on June 11th, but Galway manager Michael Donoghue requested that they be put back until July in order to allow the county team prepare fully for the championship.

However, they first have to get over a confident Westmeath side at Cusack Park on Sunday, June 5th.

There are already a number of injuries in the squad with the likes of Joe Canning, David Burke, Iarla Tannion and Fergal Moore all being forced to miss some of their club championship games.

The fifth and final round of the group stages has now been pencilled in for the weekend of July 9th/10th.
