Shane Curran will be a candidate for Fianna Fail in the upcoming General Election in the three-seater Roscommon-Galway constituency.

The former Roscommon goalkeeper has been added to the party ticket ahead of the election on Friday, February 26. He joins Strokestown Councillor Eugene Murphy on the ticket.

While Curran has no political background, he enjoys a high-profile thanks to his involvement in the GAA and his punditry work for RTE. The 2013 All-Ireland club winner with St. Brigid's managed Padraig Pearses to a Roscommon SFC final appearance against Clann na nGael last year.
