Galway clubs given Monday night deadline

Galway's clubs will have until Monday night to put forward their nominations for the county's new senior hurling manager.

Micheál Donoghue, who steered Clarinbridge to All-Ireland glory in 2011, currently leads the race to succeed Anthony Cunningham, while Cuala manager Mattie Kenny is also expected to have his name put forward for nomination.

Galway's Hurling Committee chairman Michael Larkin has said that the county's clubs will make ultimately make the decision.

"It is up to the clubs," Larkin said. "The clubs are the important part of Galway hurling, and at the end of the day they have the ultimate decision."
