Brendan Cummins was "angry" with his Tipp team-mate Lar Corbett following the infamous 2012 All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Kilkenny.

The Premier County were hammered by 18 points and the finger of blame was pointed at Corbett who, somewhat farcically, chased Tommy Walsh and his shadow all over the Croke Park field.

Thurles Sarsfields ace Corbett later apologised for his actions and, writing in his autobiography 'Standing my Ground', Cummins recalls: "I was angry with Larry.

"I was out to play an All-Ireland semi-final at Croke Park and nobody has told me anything about this 'tactic'.

"If I had a puck out strategy for Croke Park and none of my teammates know about it how would they feel?"

Cummins also wasn't happy that his team-mate was penning a weekly column in a national newspaper at the time and voiced his concerns to coach Tommy Dunne who was part of Declan Ryan's set-up.

"Management didn't like it either, Tommy confirmed, but they were left with no option.

"There was a feeling that by agreeing to Larry's request, he might play better. Was the tail wagging the dog? Would Brian Cody have allowed this in Kilkenny?

"He sometimes gives off a laissez-faire attitude but I knew that deep down, Larry cared more about Tipperary hurling than people gave him credit for.

"He views the world differently and, while that makes him a genius in may ways, as a hurler, he's also a frustration."
