Derry 4-16

Armagh 1-5

Ciaran Steele grabbed a brace of goals as Derry easily accounted for Armagh in the first of today's Ulster MHC semi-finals at Owenbeg.

The Oak Leafers will face either Antrim or Down in the decider after this facile win. Steele raised his first green flag in the 15th minute to give the hosts a 1-2 to 0-1 lead. Jordan Murtagh and Darragh Carton tagged on points to ease Derry into a 1-9 to 0-4 interval lead.

Steele and Corey O'Reilly struck goals at the start of the second period to extend the winners' advantage to 3-10 to 1-4. Armagh pulled a goal back before Odhran McKeever bagged Derry's fourth goal. Kevin Lynch's full forward Steele was denied a hat-trick when he had a penalty saved in the closing stages.
