Ballymartle staged a brilliant comeback to defeat last year's beaten finalists Glen Rovers 2-19 to 0-23 in the first round of the Cork SHC at Pairc Ui Rinn yesterday.
Johnny Wallace and Darren McCarthy - who fired 1-8 - grabbed late goals as the Riverstick side avenged last year's quarter-final defeat to the city outfit.
With county star Patrick Horgan notching 0-7, the Glen took a 0-16 to 0-9 lead into the interval and were still five points to the good at the end of the third quarter. But Ballymartle outscored them by 2-5 to 0-4 thereafter to earn them place in Round 4.
In yesterday's other first round games, Mark Dolan's goal helped Douglas to a 1-14 to 0-9 win over St. Finbarr's, while Erin's Own were handsome 2-22 to 0-16 winners over Carrigtwohill.
The Round 2 draw, which featured holders Sarsfields, was made last night and is as follows: Blackrock v St. Finbarr's; Killeagh v Youghal; Glen Rovers v Carrigtwohill; Bishopstown v Sarsfields.
