Waterford SHC: Browne inspires Mount Sion to first final in eight years

September 20, 2014

Waterford's Tony Browne

The evergreen Tony Browne was to the fore as Mount Sion qualified for their first Waterford SHC final since 2006 with a 2-17 to 0-16 semi-final success over De La Salle at Walsh Park this evening.

The sides finished level on 0-9 apiece at the end of the first half but second half goals from Stephen Roche and Sean Ryan swung the tie in Mount Sion's favour.

Browne sent over three points for the winners while rising teenage star Austin Gleeson was also prominent at centre-back.

Jake Dillon finished as De La Salle's top scorer with 0-10, two from play, but they were left to count the cost of hitting 15 wides.
