The Big Apple hosted the biggest youth competition of its kind outside Ireland last weekend and afterwards GAA President Liam O'Neill heaped praise on the 2014 New York CYC.

"This has been a fantastic tournament. We've had over 230 teams playing over 550 games over four days," explained O'Neill.

"The venue here on Randall's Island is just fantastic. I'm looking at a suspension bridge, we have Manhattan behind us and we have this oasis in the middle which has been covered with children enjoying Gaelic games."

O'Neill praised everyone involved, from parents to the host committee, and indicated that a GAA World Cup is getting closer to becoming a reality.
