Antrim minor manager Paul McKillen would like to see the county's U18s follow their senior counterparts into the Leinster championship.

Despite winning 12 of the last 13 Ulster MHC titles, the Saffrons have failed to make an impact in the All-Ireland series and McKillen feels a move into Leinster would raise standards and make them more competitive.

"I would welcome a round-robin set-up similar to that which Antrim seniors played in this year," he said in the Irish Daily Star in the wake of Sunday's 17-point All-Ireland MHC quarter-final loss to Galway.

"If you come out of that, you are going to be better prepared coming into an All-Ireland quarter-final.

"I'd like to see things going better for the minors. I think we have been treated not too well this year, but I need to iron those things out with the county board.

"A forensic look at hurling in Antrim wouldn't be a bad plan. There has been great hurlers in Antrim."
