don't rate conroy. would take bane over him any day.

I hope complacency doesn't set in as Louth are a decent outfit with a good win under their belts already and as someone else pointed out, they should have been the Leinster champions in 2010.

Cummins was the best forward on show sunday. He worked like a dog through out. its not all about scoring.

Not sure about Bane for Cummins as Cummins did a lot of donkeywork (including drawing a couple of fouls for scores) without actually scoring against Derry. Perhaps Bane in for Ryan would be more likely. Hehir played ok but Boyle may be the stronger and pacier option at left half forward. Would love to see Conor O'Doherty involved as he has the required pace, power and accuracy to cut it at senior. Would also like to see Conroy actually scoring more as he does have the talent but its taking him a long time to show it consistently from game to game.

best of luck to galway in their battle to wrestle back the connacht championship as mayo, sligo and roscommon are no push overs. just do us a favour and give that tyrone outfit a good game in the league lol!

captaincajun - i get where your coming from with not changing a winning team and i have often said it myself but surely there needs to be change in the forwards? we were too heavily relying on Martin and Joyce last Sunday. Ryan and Cummins barely got a sniff of the ball and centre forward just doesnt suit Conroy in my mind

If I would have any advice for the young Galway lads, don't believe your own hype.

Pope_Benedict, I think the difference is that at last we seem to have found the correct manager who knows the team and type of football that suits the Galway tradition and psyche.

Dont change a winning team, let the youth have there shot.

Lets not forget, that but for a bad ref decision, this team could have been Leinster champs 2 years ago. A win is not a foregone conclusion by any means. That said, I have some confidence in this team and am hoping for the best.

I think the backs and midfield should remain the same, best mid field performance by Galway for years, Duane is a definite for centre back, the guy he was on yesterday would have roasted Blake but Duane was able to stick with him. Great mix of pace, skill and doggedness in the half back line yesterday overall. Agree that Boyle if fit and Bane deserve a chance perhaps instead of Ryan and Cummins, Id leave the other four forwards as is

the most pleasing thing to seee was galway playing good football again
after all the terrible stuff the players and fans put up with last few years

After a hard fought away win in Norn Iron last weekend, its the first time in years I've had a good feeling about a Galway match, especially considering we're back at home and against one of the weaker teams in the league. However, they shuld not be taken for granted. they racked up a nice tally last weekend and if Galway are to have success this year in the league, they need to keep the heads down and plough on with it. Game throws in at 2:30 I presume and will be reffed by Derek Fahy, who infamously overruled one of his umpires and awarded Limerick a last-minute winning point in the qualifiers last year against Wexford. However I still question some of Mulholland's team choices. If Galway really want to hammer home the win on Sunday and send out a message as to what they can deliver, I think this should be the team:
Faherty
Forde
Hanley
McGrath/Duane
Bradshaw
Blake
Sice/O'Donnell
Cullinane
Flynn/O Currain
Boyle
Armstrong (if fit)
Hehir
Martin
Joyce
Bane

6 strong forwards with lots of scoring potential. Some experienced but also a blend of youth in Martin Hehir and Boyle.
Opinions?

Seeing the logic of that team selection yesterday, it would make you wonder if there ever will be an internal tribunal of inquiry as to what exactly was going on with team selection in 2011.

Parking around Pearse Stadium
Paulocon,I just checked online, and you can get a family room in the Anno Santo Hotel for 88 euro, and its only 100 yards from Pearse Stadium, also if you look around online there are any number of B and Bs in that area that would be only too delighted to get the business this time of year,Check it out.
