The Late Gertie Kelly
GAA people throughout County Galway were saddened to hear of the untimely death of Mrs Gertie Kelly, Kilconnell, Ballinasloe. She served as Secretary of St. Gabriel's GAA Club for the past five years and before that as Assistant Secretary.
Gertie Kelly also served on the school's Board of Management, the Parish Council and she organised and took part in plays, quiz competitions, Church and community projects.
Over the years, Mrs. Kelly also did trojan work in the Cappataggle Hurling Club and was a founding member of the Cappataggle Juvenile Committee, serving as Scór Secretary and PRO of the Adult Club.
She died in Beaumont Hospital less than an hour after the St. Gabriel's GAA Club had elected her in her absence as Club Secretary for the sixth successive year.
In the community of Kilconnell and surrounding parishes she will be sadly missed. St Gabriel's GAA club on its own behalf and on behalf of the community, extended sympathy to her husband, John, daughter Pauline, sons, Noel and David; to her mother and father, brothers and sisters and all her extended family.
