Galway forward Shane Walsh says he has saved his best for Croke Park as they aim to reach their first All-Ireland semi-final since 2001.

The Tribesmen clash with Tipperary in the quarter-final on Sunday and the 23-year-old Kilkerrin-Clonberne front man will be key to unlocking the Tipperary defence.

The former Young Player of the Year nominee shot three points against Roscommon as Galway cruised to their first Connacht title in eight years with a 3-16 to 0-14 victory at MacHale Park in Castlebar.

"You always try to save your best for Croker so we will see what happens. You are trying to build the whole time and you can peak too early in the year. I'm trying to peak for now.

"At least we're in Croke Park on better terms this year. We just want to drive it on from here and see what we get," said Walsh.

Galway have already beaten two Division One teams already this year and they have massive confidence coming into their quarter-final.

Walsh has scored four points between the two games and he believes this team have the potential to go anywhere.

"The capacity in the group to produce performances like that is there and it's just about producing it on consistent levels. We put down a marker there for Galway this year. Everyone disregarded us before Mayo and it's nice to put ourselves back on the map again.

"We seen the performance against Roscommon coming. We know what this group is capable of. We can put in big big performances. That's what we have been training for.

"Everyone has been buzzing in the squad and anyone can start from one to 32. Everyone is driving it on and the camp is just buzzing on the panel.

"It's a complete team and that's what we have been striving for. You have Dec Coyne leading at the back all the way up to Danny (Cummins)and Damo (Comer) up front. It's a team effort, it doesn't matter who scores at the end of the day and the best way a team can perform."
