Mulqueen seeks 'A' game

Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald, Louis Mulqueen and trainer Joe O'Connor.

Clare selector Louis Mulqueen is adamant that they must be on top form if they are to defeat Galway in Sunday's All-Ireland SHC quarterfinal at Semple Stadium.

The sides battle it out for a place in the semi-final and a return to Croker where Mulqueen feels that the Banner can express themselves even more.

Galway are like a wounded animal following their defeat to Kilkenny in the Leinster final and Mulqueen told the Clare Champion that they must be wary of the Tribesmen.

"We need to get to Croke Park and we will open up if we get there. I'd love to see our lads back at headquarters and a win on Sunday will see us there, where I really believe our best will come out," said Mulqueen.

"This is a very good Galway team. The fact that Galway were relegated from Division 1 gives us a false impression. They have shown that they can match the best and were certainly unlucky to be relegated."

He added: "Galway are a serious team. They have contested two All-Irelands in four years, as well as three Leinster finals, one of which they won."
