In a break with tradition, Roscommon manager Justin Campbell will take charge of Connacht in the upcoming Inter-provincial hurling series.

Usually, the Galway manager would take charge of what is often an all-Galway provincial side. However, as the Tribesmen are currently without a manager, the Connacht Council have decided to appoint Campbell to the role. The former Kiltormer and Galway forward led the Rossies to Nicky Rackard Cup glory earlier this year.

The two Inter-provincial hurling semi-finals will be played at Pearse Stadium on Saturday week. Connacht meet Ulster in the first semi-final at 12.30pm, which will be followed by the meeting of Munster and Leinster at 2pm.

The final will also take place at the Salthill venue the following day at 1.30pm. The Connacht footballers, who will also be in action that weekend, will once again be managed by John Tobin.
