Mayo are expected to appoint Stephen Rochford as their new senior footballer manager early next week.

According to a report in today's Irish Daily Star, the Corofin boss will be interviewed by county board officials over the next few days with the board likely to convene next Monday or Tuesday to officially appoint him.

Rochford saw his schedule cleared on Sunday evening after Corofin were upset by Castlebar Mitchels in the Connacht club SFC final.

The former Crossmolina All-Ireland club winner is poised to replace Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly after the pair walked away from the Connacht champions following a motion from the players.
