The Galway SHC is renowned for being one of the most competitive in the country, but yesterday bore witness to one of its most one-sided games in many years.
Liam Mellows booked their place in the quarter-finals with a 7-26 to 0-10 drubbing of Carnmore. That's a massive 37-point margin and may well be a record for the championship.
Craughwell also qualified from Group A thanks to a 2-22 to 0-11 defeat of Kilnadeema-Leitrim, while Tommie Larkins missed out after losing 2-16 to 5-14 to Castlegar. There were also wins for Padraig Pearses, Ardrahan, Turloughmore and Loughrea over Athenry, Kiltormer, Mullagh and Sarsfields respectively.
The quarter-final draw will take place at 8pm this evening.
