Noel Lane says it's time that new All-Ireland winning heroes emerged in Galway hurling.
The former star forward scored the vital goal in the 1987 All-Ireland final success over Kilkenny but, speaking to The Irish Daily Star, he said: "I'm sick of looking at it on 'Reeling in the Years'
"If I could get down to RTE and get a hold of the tape I know what I'd do with it.
"They were great times and great moments and great successes for Galway so it's a long time ago too, 27 years.
"There's people 30 years of age in Galway that don't know what it's like to, the passions and the emotions of winning a senior All-Ireland so it's time now to change that."
Galway's decision to give Anthony Cunningham a fourth year in charge has reaped huge dividends this year. Speaking from experience, Lane, who was pushed out after two years when he served as manager, added: "Galway administration don't do patience.
"There was a lot of turnover of managers and I feel in hindsight, and at the time, that it wasn't the right thing to do but that was the way it was.
"A lot of people tried to get rid of him (Cunningham) last year. The vote was split and it was the chairman's vote swung it in his favour.
"There was some people the last day (against Tipperary), at the end of the game had we been beaten, that might have been going down to the sideline to Anthony but he held tough.
"He had his plan and he stuck with it and it worked out. He got the result when it mattered."
