Galway's chances of overcoming Cork in Sunday's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final have been boosted by the news that captain David Collins will be fit to feature.

A hamstring injury sidelined Collins for the 2-15 to 1-25 Leinster final defeat to Kilkenny but he came through a training match last Sunday unscathed.

"It's good to have him back, he had no problem in that training game on Sunday so hopefully he will be fine," manager Anthony Cunningham informed The Irish Independent last night.

"He has trained hard and thankfully has not suffered any problems."

Jason Flynn's finger injury has also cleared up but the game comes too soon for 2014 All-Star nominee Conor Cooney.

"It's very frustrating for him. It is tough when there is a recurrence of an injury but he is nearly there and if we get through Sunday there is a very good chance he will be ready for Tipperary.

"He is back running and doing some ballwork but there is still a bit to go before he is up to match fitness where there is all the twisting and turning."
