Galway hurlers must have quietly sighed when they saw that they would be playing their All-Ireland SHC quarterfinal at Semple Stadium.
To say their record there in recent years is poor would be a massive understatement, while their record in All-Ireland SHC quarterfinals is not the greatest either.
In fact, when Galway will take to the field on Sunday week to face Cork, they will be seeking their first quarterfinal win since 2005.
Indeed, they reached the Leinster final three years ago, but they did so as Leinster champions and thus avoided the quarterfinal.
In the last nine years, they have lost six times at Semple Stadium including four quarterfinals and two qualifiers, meaning the odds are stacked against a win on Sunday week.
However, Galway selector Damien Curley stated to the Connacht Tribune that they were keen to end that unwanted record.
"I suppose, it is a thing that crept into the psyche of supporters as much as anything," said Curley. "That said, all those unenviable records are there to be broken and it would be nice to break that one.
"We hadn't beaten Dublin in championship hurling until this year so it might be another duck to break on Sunday week."
