Galway's Gareth Bradshaw isn't taking New York for granted ahead of this Sunday's Connacht SFC opener.

The 28-year-old spent the summer of 2013 playing for Leitrim in the Big Apple and is expecting a stiff challenge from the hosts.

"Focus will be a key thing for us," he outlined to The Examiner.

"With lads like PJ Banville and Brian O'Connor there, they have three or four good scoring forwards that will take good marking.

"They'll be familiar with their surroundings too, having trained there for the last few months.

"Playing on that pitch when it's hot and heavy, it's a whole new ball game. It's very different to what we're used to. I played every weekend at Gaelic Park when I was out there.

"It's a good spot for the Irish people out there to gather. It has a good atmosphere and there is always a good bit of craic. But they'll be taking it very serious on Sunday."
