Damien Comer collected three cards lining out for Galway over the weekend.
The Annaghdown clubman captained the Tribesmen U21s to victory over Mayo in their Connacht U21 FC semi-final on Saturday and then togged out for Kevin Walsh's seniors against Laois in the national football league at Tuam on Sunday. On both occasions, he was took an early shower!
Having scored 1-5, Comer was shown a black card eight minutes from the end of the U21 match; he then picked up two yellows against the O'Moore County as his team slipped to a disappointing defeat.
"Yeah, three cards in one weekend - and harshly, I might add," he tells The Irish Times. "That's the way it goes. You'd the high of the U21 on Saturday, then go out with the seniors, and another loss. It's important to just focus on the good I suppose.
"But Kevin Walsh is sound. He said to put up your hand, if you're struggling. I probably hadn't the energy I normally have, on the Sunday, but I was still happy to play. I felt fine after the game Saturday and I didn't have any injuries.
"Kevin actually gave me the week off from the seniors. And I only trained once with the U21s, the Thursday night before the game. I was a bit sickened with the black card and was sweating up in the stand when Mayo started to come back, but thankfully our backs did enough to hold them out."
