The Galway senior hurling management are confident that they will win the tug of war over Daithi Burke's services.

The Irish Independent reports that Burke, who played a leading role for Corofin in their All-Ireland Club success on St Patrick's Day, is wanted by the Tribesmen's football manager Kevin Walsh but Anthony Cunningham and his selectors are not keen on dual status at inter-county level.

As a result, it is understood that 2013 All-Ireland U-21 football winner Burke is prepared to give the hurlers his total commitment.

Last year he joined up with Alan Mulholland's football squad after Galway's interest in the hurling championship was ended by defeat to Tipperary in a qualifier game.

Meanwhile, Niall Burke, Paul Killeen and Fergal Moore may feature against Dublin in Parnell Park this Sunday.

Cyril Donnellan could also come into the reckoning having recovered from a long-term groin injury but Conor Cooney and David Burke remain sidelined.
